# OKX Identity Verification: Step-by-Step

## Why is verification mandatory on OKX?

According to OKX, an unverified account **can't** buy or sell, deposit or withdraw (not even internal transfers), or borrow or transfer funds. You also need to be **at least 18** to get verified.

## Step 1: Open the verification page

- **In the app:** open the menu → **Profile and settings** → under **Profile**, choose **Verification**.
- **On the website:** account icon → verification page → **Individual verification** → **Continue**.

## Step 2: Enter your basic details

You'll be asked for:
- your **country of residence** and **nationality**,
- your **full name** (plus your name in the local language, if you have one),
- your **date of birth**,
- your **ID number** and **ID type**,
- your **residential address**.

## Step 3: Upload your ID

OKX accepts **a valid government ID from an eligible country**, as long as it:
- shows your **full name, date of birth, issue date and expiry date**,
- **hasn't expired**,
- **isn't a screenshot** of any kind,
- is clear and readable, not blurry,
- shows **all four corners of the document**.

## Step 4: Take your face photo

- Keep your **whole face inside the oval frame**.
- **Nothing should cover your face**: no mask, no glasses, no hat.
- **Don't use the flash**, as it causes reflections or glare.

## Step 5: Proof of address (if asked)

Some users are asked for proof of address (such as a utility bill or bank statement). It must show **your current residential address** and be issued within **the last 3 months** (6 months for residents of the European Economic Area).
