# How to Verify Your KuCoin Account

## Why the residence permit matters

KuCoin accepts a **residence permit** as a verification document, and decides eligibility **by country of residence**. So if you're an expat (say, an Egyptian in Kuwait or a Syrian in Germany), you can verify with the residence permit from the country you live in, as long as KuCoin is available there.

## Steps

### 1. Open the verification page

- **App:** account icon → **Unverified**, or **Verify Now** on the home screen.
- **Website:** **Account Center** → **Identity Verification**.

### 2. Choose the issuing country

Choose the country that **issued** the document you're going to use.

### 3. Choose the document type

ID card, driver's license, passport or residence permit.

### 4. Photograph the document

Take photos of the **original document** itself: not a printout or a scan. It must not be expired, and every detail must be readable.

### 5. Face verification

Follow the on-screen instructions to scan your face.

### 6. Wait for the result

You'll get the result by **email**. If your application is rejected, you'll find the reason on the **Identity Verification** page and can submit again.
