# How to Create a Binance Account: Step-by-Step Guide

> **Quick answer**
> Creating a Binance account is free and takes a few minutes. Open the Binance app or website, sign up with your email, phone number, or a Google, Apple or Telegram account, enter the 6-digit verification code within 30 minutes, and set a password of at least 8 characters with one uppercase letter and one number. After that, you'll need to verify your identity before you can deposit or trade.

| | |
|---|---|
| **Steps** | 7 in the app, 5 on the website |
| **Cost** | Free |
| **What you need** | An email address or phone number, and you must be at least 18 |
| **Next step** | Identity verification (required before you can deposit or trade) |

## Before you start: 4 things to know

1. **Age:** You must be at least 18. In **Bahrain and the UAE**, local law sets the minimum at 21 for signing up to Binance's local platforms there.
2. **Account type:** You'll choose between a **personal** account and a **business** account. Choose carefully: Binance states clearly that **the account type can't be changed after signup**. If you're an individual, pick the personal account.
3. **ID comes later:** You don't need an ID card to create the account itself, but you'll need it right afterwards for verification. Have your national ID card or passport ready.
4. **Your country:** Binance isn't available in some countries. Check [your country's page](https://exchangesteps.com/countries) before you sign up.

## Choose how you want to sign up

| Method | Best for |
|---|---|
| **Email** | Most people: it's easy to recover, and every important notification goes there |
| **Phone number** | You'd rather get your codes by text message |
| **Google or Apple** | Speed: one tap with an account you already have |
| **Telegram** | You use Telegram a lot and want it linked to your account |

## How to create a Binance account on your phone (7 steps)

Download the official Binance app from Google Play or the App Store, and check that the developer is listed as Binance before you install it.

### Step 1: Open the app and tap [Sign Up]

Open the app and tap **[Sign Up]**. The button is there in both Lite and Pro mode.

### Step 2: Tap [Create Binance Account]

You'll see a choice screen. Tap **[Create Binance Account]**. (There's also a **[Create Entity Account]** option. Skip it if you're signing up as an individual.)

### Step 3: Choose how to sign up

Pick email or phone number, or tap **[Continue with Google]** or **[Continue with Apple]**.
If you go with Google or Apple, sign in to that account, accept the terms, tap **[Next]**, and skip straight to step 7.

### Step 4: Enter your email or phone number and accept the terms

Type in your email address or phone number, tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap **[Next]**.

> 💡 **Tip:** If you're signing up with a phone number, make sure you've selected the right country code before entering it.

### Step 5: Enter the verification code within 30 minutes

You'll receive a **6-digit verification code** by email or text. Enter it **within 30 minutes**, then tap **[Submit]**.

> ⚠️ **Warning:** Binance will never ask you for this code over the phone or on WhatsApp. Don't give it to anyone.

### Step 6: Create a strong password

Your password needs **at least 8 characters, including at least one uppercase letter and one number**. Tap **[Next]**.

> 💡 **Tip:** Don't reuse your email password. Use a password just for Binance and keep it in a password manager.

### Step 7: Finish signing up

You'll see a **"Welcome!"** message with a green tick confirming your account has been created. Tap **[Next]** and the app takes you straight to identity verification.

**Congratulations, your account is ready.** Next up: verification.

## How to sign up for Binance on a computer (5 steps)

1. Go to the official Binance website, enter your email or phone number on the home page, and click **[Sign Up]**.
2. Tick the box to accept the terms and Privacy Policy, then click **[Next]**.
3. Enter the 6-digit verification code within 30 minutes and click **[Submit]**.
4. Create your password (at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter and a number) and click **[Next]**.
5. Click **[Next]** to finish signing up.

> ⚠️ **Check the URL:** Phishing sites copy the Binance signup page down to the last detail. Always go in through the official app or a direct link, and never click links you get in messages or ads.

## Signing up with Telegram

1. Tap **[Continue with Telegram]**, then **[Connect]**, and log in to Telegram.
2. Tap **[Confirm]** on the notification you get in Telegram.
3. Tap **[Create New Binance Account]**.
4. Enter your email or phone number, accept the terms, and tap **[Next]**.
5. Enter the code you were sent and tap **[Next]**. Your account is ready.

## What can you do before you verify?

Very little. According to Binance, unverified accounts are restricted. Verification is what unlocks:

- **Deposits and withdrawals**
- **Unrestricted trading**
- **Fiat, Spot and Futures accounts**
- **Advanced features**

So don't stop once your account is created: [verify your account now](https://exchangesteps.com/binance-identity-verification). Depending on your country, you'll need a national ID card, passport or driver's license.

## Secure your account from day one

Binance strongly recommends turning on **at least one form of two-factor authentication (2FA)**. It takes two minutes once your account is set up:

1. Turn on 2FA with an app like Google Authenticator, or set up a passkey.
2. Turn on the **anti-phishing code**, so you can tell real Binance emails from fake ones.

Then read up on [the most common P2P scams](https://exchangesteps.com/p2p-scams) before your first purchase.

## Common problems and fixes

**The verification code isn't arriving**
- Check your spam folder.
- Make sure you typed your email or phone number correctly, with the right country code.
- Wait for the timer to run out, then request a new code. Remember, each code is only valid for 30 minutes.

**My password is rejected**
- Make sure it has at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter (A–Z) and at least one number.

**My email is already registered**
- That means you already have an account. Tap log in, and use "Forgot password" if you need to.

**I picked a business account by mistake**
- The account type can't be changed after signup. Contact Binance support from inside the app to find out what options you have.

**My country isn't listed, or signup is rejected**
- Binance may not be available in your country. **Don't use a VPN or another country's details**: it breaks Binance's terms and can get your account and funds frozen. Check [which exchanges are available in your country](https://exchangesteps.com/countries).
